Dubstep: “Lassitude (Dillon Francis Remix)” by DJ Fresh Sigma

One hell of a remix by Dillon Francis, takes hold of the original and doesn’t let go. The synth that hits with the drop (around 1:00) is awesome, and the bass knocks pretty hard too without drowning out the rest of the song. Definitely a song to chill to, it’s made for extended mellow listening, given the length of the song and the repetition of certain parts. Overall a solid remix.

Dubstep: “Promises” by Nero ft. Sub Focus (Skrillex & Nero Remix)

I always get requests for Skrillex uploads, and I’m going to be honest: not only does every other blog obsess over Skrillex tracks (thus you can get them there), I’m honestly not that big of a fan of his style. Too much attack, not enough melody for me. Usually. Today is obviously an exception, and I feel like after the buzz this track has been getting, this was a necessary post, and one that I’m glad to feature, Skrillex has shown me that maybe I should be taking a second look at his newer stuff, because this is excellent.

Glitch: “64 Bytes (Eprom Remix)” by Eprom

Eprom

Off of the remix album that features a couple of talented artists all doing their own version of “64 Bytes”, this is Eprom’s remix attempt at his own original song, and as usual, it comes out totally off the wall and really well done. Eprom sticks out in my mind through his use of crazy samples and how all of his songs keep a crunchy & robotic melody throughout, and this one fits the bill as well.

Dubstep: “Rolling In The Deep” Remix by Adele feat. Deathstar

adele

I love remixes that don’t completely derail the song, but still contribute their own sound to it. Adele’s powerful voice is complimented nicely in this remix, without being overpowered, so I’d have to say this was a great effort by Deathstar and MartyParty (along with Minnesota) and it came out excellent!

Electronic: “Rolling In The Deep” Remix by Hourglass Sea

Adele

Our second Adele remix is a submission by Hourglass Sea, and it’s a unique and well done take on Adele’s recent monster hit “Rolling In The Deep”. One important thing about remixes of this song seems to be that many artists look to add powerful music but don’t want to drown out Adele’s voice, as her unique and strong sound are what make her music so apt for remixes in the first place. Hourglass Sea definitely makes a unique attempt at this and allows both the music and Adele’s powerful singing to both shine.

You’re Making Me High (Paper Diamond Electro Remix) by PaperDiamond

Freeze by PaperDiamond

I’m actually spoiling ya’ll with 3 downloads on this update, but I had to pick one for the title. All recently dropped on Paper Diamond’s SoundCloud, and all equally impressive and very different, showing ability to produce for a multitude of sounds. The other is a remix of “You’re Making Me High” and lastly we have a new, unreleased track entitled “Freeze”.

Glitch: “Forward Slash Mixtape” by R/D

Forward Slash Mixtaep

Positively one of the best mixtapes I’ve heard in a long time, R/D brings a warm feel to all of his music, and adds a kick with glitch effects very akin to The Glitch Mob (with whom he often collaborates). Just starting to make a stir in the scene, R/D is a future star in the making, and if you listen to the variety of powerful melodies in this mixtape, I’m sure you’ll understand why.

Electronic: “Seven Nation Army (Remix)” by The Glitch Mob

This is a recent favorite of a lot of people, and it’s easy to see why. Although some had some complaints that the song was maybe too similar to the original, as a tribute song, I think that The Glitch Mob did justice to the track while still keeping the familiar sound intact. With a song as iconic as Seven Nation Army, do you really want to change too much?

Electronic: “Third Eye High (Remix)” by Quade

Third Eye High Remix

Was unsure if I wanted to classify this fantastic mix as dubstep or not, you might see my confusion when you play the track yourself. Nonetheless, Quade came with arguably the best remix of this song on the entire “Third Eye High” album, as this track turns the original song into an “other worldly” remix that I’m sure many of you can vibe to.

Dubstep: “Moment 4 Life (Remix)” by Break Science

I have to say, I didn’t have a lot of faith when I heard about this remix, but Break Science seems to defy the odds on this one: a dubstep remix featuring Moment 4 Life… that’s actually well done. One of the bigger hits off of her album Pink Friday, Nicki seems to evoke a love/hate from listeners of her music, but I’d have to say this is one remix that is well done enough to be enjoyed by both sides of the camp.
