Electronic: “How We Do (Remix)” by Pretty Lights

Not to be confused with the original Pretty Lights track “How We Do”, this a remix of that song put to a video recap of Lollapalooza, and it features along with a sick tune a great video that really captures the energy of the fans and the concert as a whole. As with a few other tracks, this one is not up for download just yet, but you can sign up for the newsletter to be notified (I’ll include a link) whenever it is. Enjoy!

Dubstep: “Sunlight (Remix)” by Helicopter Showdown & Calvertron

Street Art

Dirty dubstep track for the weekend, brought to you today by Helicopter Showdown (with Calvertron), a remix of the fairly popular track ‘Sunlight’. This is one of the more creative remixes that I’ve heard of this song, although it keeps the dubstep flavor intact, with a great bass and creative use of “wobbles” (man I hate that term) helps to create an overall upbeat and quality track. Also up for free, so enjoy it!

Hip-Hop: “Everything (Remix)” by Gramatik (feat. Murs & James Blunt)

I was surprised to find that this was actually dropped quite a while ago, but I’ve never heard of it and I figured a few of you might not have either. It’s a great mashup of Gramatik’s track “Starlight” from his Beatz & Pieces Vol. 1 album and it works in lyrics by Murs (favorite of mine) and vocals by James Blunt. Definitely a solid track, a lot of soul here!

Electronic: “Starve The Ego, Feed The Soul (Remix)” by R/D

The first song that revealed to me R/D’s immense talent, I would later greatly enjoy (and post about!) his ‘Forward Slash Mixtape’ and his ‘Face Of God’ EP, so big ups for The Glitch Mob for featuring him on their Drink The Sea Remix album! I really, really suggest you head over to Download To Donate in order to pick up 85 tracks for only a $10 donation, it’s full of electronic goodness and you get to do something helpful.

Glitch: “The Glitch Anthem” by Cryptex

Big mix by Cryptex, in order to promote his new release ‘Isolated Incidents’ on a brand new label. Great promotion mix, featuring some remixes, some original works, and a whole lot of glitch. I first heard of Cryptex from his ‘Drive It Like You Stole It’ remix and I’ve been a fan since, so make sure you check out this mix and get the new album if you’re digging it!

Electronic: “Zed’s Dead Mix” by Mad Decent

graff

Mad Decent is always putting out great mixes, and this one is no exception, it has a lot of variety and a really upbeat vibe to it. We also featured ‘Drankenstein 2’ before and it had a warm response, so if you enjoyed that mix than you will definitely like what Mad Decent has put together for us this time.

Glitch: “Twenty Minutes” by edIT

Definitely one of the most prominent, if not the go to artist when discussing glitch music, or “glitch-hop” as it is sometimes referred to, edIT manages to bring soul to a forcefully distorted sound like no other artist can. His first solo album “Crying Over Prose For No Reason” is undoubtedly one of the best in the genre.

Electronic: “F The Structure” by Sharkoffs

F The Structure

You won’t see me raving (pun definitely intended) about club and house music all that much, but sometimes these tracks are just too damn catchy for their own good. That’s definitely the case with with submission by Rafael, and he was nice enough to give it to us for free, so show some love, download, and enjoy!

Glitch: “Overnight” by Hudson Mohawke

Despite his eclectic style of electronic, you definitely can’t sleep on HudMo! This is probably his most endearing song in my opinion, it has all of the unique vibe of Hudson Mowhake but is surprisingly catchy, you’ll find yourself humming it even though it’s not exactly an easy or predictable song to remember! Hope to see HudMo go back to his ‘Polyfolk Dance’ sound, as ‘Butter’ was a slight letdown for me.

Electronic: “Good Evening Mr. Hitchcock” by Gramatik

From the absolutely amazing “Beatz & Pieces Vol. 1” album, this is one of the most inspired and dare I say beautiful electronic tunes of 2011. Simply haunting stuff coming from Gramatik, there looks to be another album from him coming soon, and I can definitely say I am now a huge fan and anxiously await more.
