It’s definitely a different track, but a familiar style for Ooah, the piano accompanies the “wobbles” nicely, and adds a serene melody to an otherwise fun and upbeat track. This is a very experimental piece for Derek, who usually relies on very soulful filled melodies, and as of late, hard hitting remixes. This however, is a bit more abstract sounding to my ears, call it acquired listening, call it a new style, Derek seems to be showing that he can put great effort and ability into any type of sound he pursues. I know a few people won’t be too happy to here this new style for Derek, but I for one am really please with how this turned out.

Another fantastic example of how to properly fuse electronic production and hip-hop, we see a paring of two really talented artists in the clever wordplay of common and the distinctive sounds of Break Science. As Pretty Lights Music (the label) garners more notoriety in the electronic scene and in the music world in general, I hope we can expect to see more actual (this is just Break Science remixing Common’s track) parings of talented producers and lyricists with something to say.

Let me first off just say that I apologize for the new format that I will have to be using until YouTube solves an issue: it seems you can no longer embed the “play bar” from YouTube videos without decreasing the quality to 240p, which to be honest, sounds terrible. Recently signed to the Pretty Lights Music label, Paper Diamond has shown himself to be of great talent, and he will most likely only get better now that he is under the wing of such a talented group, which includes Pretty Lights (Derek) himself, Michal Menert, and Break Science. As shown by his remix and his latest album effort, we can definitely expect more greatness from Paper Diamond in the not so distant future.
No doubt that Pretty Lights is an artist known for both his original track as well as his remixes. Some, such as his Country Roads remix, are pretty notorious in creating a debate over whether or not they do the original “justice”, which can mean a couple of things to different people. Regardless, his remixes are always catchy and well received by the electronic crowd at large.

One of the most unique artists in the genre today, Beats Antique puts accepted standards to the side and is able to successfully pull off everything from classic 40’s remakes, Arabian style masterpieces, and excellent remixes such as this.
